The Center and Library for the Bible
and Social Justice invites you to join us online each third Thursday at 4:
30pm Pacific Time / 7:30pm Eastern Time for an interactive dialogue explor

This series is co-sponsored by the Community of Living Traditions.
\nPresentation 1: Electric Vehicle Grid Management\n
\n
\n
\n
USA Lightweight vehicles drove 3 tril
lion miles in 2019 consumed 125 billion gallons of gasoline and produced 1
.43 Billion tons of GHGe.
\n
\n
Switching to EVs will c
ut energy consumption 80% and with renewable energy charging cut emissions
by 90%.
\n
\n
Public and private workplaces\, parking
lots\, transit centers\, malls\, shopping centers\, municipal parks\, etc.
all offer convenient locations for opportunity and destination charging.
Depending on the location the correct power of charger needs to be selecte
d to maximize the efficiency of EVs.
\n
\n
Adopting EV
to Grid management technologies\, which already exist\, will make the inte
raction between renewables\, EVs and the grid more energy efficient to sav
e billions of dollars for companies\, local governments\, and consumers.

DESCRIPTION:Last year’s murder of George Floyd sparked intense national
discussion on the nature of policing and how to prevent the harming of una
rmed citizens\, who often are people of color. Providence Meeting is partn
ering with the Nether Providence Police Accountability Committee to host a
n online conversation to help neighbors and friends in our Delaware County
community think about this important issue\, by focusing on the following
question: What mak
es communities feel safe? C
onventional wisdom says the best and only answer to that question is polic
ing. But is that true? Are there ways to address and prevent community har
m that don’t involve physical force and control?
Many communities are considering whether there are alternative ways to
address a wide range of crisis situations and harm prevention that societ
y currently expects to be handled by policing. We hope you will join us fo
r this very relevant\, highly interactive\, and engaging online conversati
on\, where we will learn from each other and explore these ideas together.
Registration is limited to ensure participan
ts can fully engage with each other in small group discussion\, so don’t d

reness of the natural world? Miss Louisa will be sharing
two stories about bats\, followed by a bat puppet craft. Join her on the p

Story one: Winter
is coming\, and Bat needs to find a home. He finds a perfect place\, but t
here’s a problem. Where Bat wants to live is already occupied by a not so

fly near her house. Amara is distraught when she and her family move to a
new house\, and there aren’t any bats. What’s a bat-loving girl to do?

CRC Watersheds Association\, the Newtown Township EAC\, and
Garrett Williamson welcome you back for another bird watching event!
\n
Once again\, accomplished birders Bon
nie Witmer and Mike McGraw will lead this “Rain or Shine” event\, schedule
d for the peak of Spring bird migration. Participants are likely to see a
number of warblers\, sparrows\, red tailed hawks\, black and turkey vultur
es\, and hope to see bald eagles and bobolinks along with many other speci
es that breed in Pennsylvania.
\n
The Garrett Williamson property is a total of 240 acres and has appr
oximately 4 miles of walking trails. The trails meander through open field
s and meadows\, riparian areas featuring a tributary to Crum Creek and pri
marily beech tree dominant forest. There are many diverse habitats and edg
es because the property is farmed\, and they have an educational garden wh
ich is visited regularly by birds. The property is private and generally c
losed to the public so this would be a unique opportunity to visit this la
rge piece of mostly undeveloped land in Newtown Square.

Sign up early. The last birding event at G

DESCRIPTION:
The Media 5 Mile Race originated in 1980 as a fundraiser for
a local political campaign. Two residents\, Frank Daly and Frank Deady\,
outlined a course and planned an evening of fun and good cheer\, which has
evolved into an annual cherished and respected event\, all politics aside
.
\n
State Street was the focus for the beginning and end of the race
\, but residents lined the course throughout neighborhoods and turned the
race into a true community event. This tradition continues today.
\n
The 2.5 mile\, double loop course is a challenge. With twists and turns\,
the short and steep and long rising hills on this course brings out the be
ast in runners.
\n
The diverse participants range from former Olympia
ns\, university and high school star athletes\, seasoned teams and less co
mpetitive but goal oriented runners of all levels.
\n
Certified by th
e USATF\, many runners use their time here to help qualify for larger race
s. Runners from across the country come back to Media each year to partici
pate.
