Transition Town Media is Hosting a Map Jam!

Posted on September 27, 2014

Let’s map Media’s sharing assets!

MapJamFinalSCN_PublicMedia and Transition Town Media are loaded with collaborative consumption programs and models of the sharing economy. This year we will map our assets along with other sharing cities network communities around the globe in a MAP JAM!  Join us Sunday, October 19.  See our calendar for details.

A map what?  A map jam. Here’s the idea: We’ll gather together and brainstorm what resources we have in our community and put them on Media’s map. Timebanking assets, Yardens, local food, and local sharing businesses can all be added.  See the idea in video.

According to Shareable.com:

Mapping all of the shared resources in your city not only shows that another world is possible–it shows it’s already here! Asset maps are powerful organizing tools. They make community assets more visible–creating a base for further community development, leading to new collaborations and illuminating openings for new project ideas to fill in the gaps. They also get a lot of traffic! Depending on the size of your city, your map could easily get thousands of visits in just a few months after creating it.

Learn more about the global map jam efforts that run this year from October 13-27 and follow the happenings with #MapJam.

We offer Reiki Shares where people who do Reiki trade sessions. We also provide opportunities for people who do Reiki to share by providing opportunities to do Reiki for others at our Reiki Healing Circles and at the Senior Center at the Media Fellowship House and for support groups and events. I think a map or resource guide would be great for all the hidden treasures in Media.
