We are forming an Advocacy Team of local constituents under the guidance of the FCNL to engage in ongoing conversations with our senators and congressional representatives on issues important to our faith. Are you interested in joining us and can you help us spread the word? Our introductory training is scheduled for June 19th in Media, PA. The training will give participants a chance to find out more, acquire specific skills, and test whether they are ready to commit the time to join a team. Teams vary in size, but we anticipate we could be a group composed of people from District 7 (Meehan), District 1 (Brady), and possibly District 6 (Costello). We hope to form a team that includes people of various faiths and party affiliations. Here’s how the FCNL Advocacy Team model works: After the initial training from FCNL, those who want to a Team commit to meeting at regular intervals to strategize and take action by meeting with senators and representatives, writing letters to local media, and developing an ongoing conversation with elected officials and their staff. The introductory training will occur Monday, June 19, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Providence Meeting, 105 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA. Some of us will provide a light meal at 5:30 p.m. – all are invited to join us for food if you can and welcome to bring potluck contributions. If you know people from other faith communities, please invite them to sign up or be in touch with us. Sign up through FCNL’s sign-up page to give us an idea of how many people to expect, or contact us directly.
