“Sustainable Farming and Agricultural
Preservation in Chester County”
By Dean Carlson and Wesley Bruckno
After 15 years in the financial industry as a derivatives and bond trader, Dean Carlson bought 360 acres of farmland in Honeybrook in 2010 with the objective of raising food in a sustainable way. His Wyebrook Farm raises grass-fed beef, woodlot pork, pastured chicken, lamb, and goats. Dean will talk about why sustainable farming really matters.
Wes Bruckno is a Senior Planner with the Chester County Planning Commission and also serves as the County Sustainability Coordinator. He has been with the County for over 20 years. He will update us on the County’s efforts regarding agricultural preservation and land use policies, including efforts aimed at reducing GHG emissions.
