SIG Combibloc is hosting its Third Annual Fundraising Gala benefitting the Chester Upland School of the Arts (CUSA) on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wharf Riverfront building in Chester.
This event is open to the public and will feature the music of Shawn Taylor and his band, with a special appearance by John Streetz, a musical talent on the rise from Chester who was selected as the top performer for the 2017 Showtime at the Apollo in New York City.
SIG created a corporate philanthropy program in partnership with CUSA in 2015 and hosted its first gala to raise funds in support of the underserved elementary school. Not too long after, SIG partnered with Kaboom! and SAP America and built a new playground for the approximately 500 school students. CUSA is part of the Chester Upland School District where teachers and administrators must deal with budget cuts in a district that is in a constant state of financial crisis.
The funds from SIG help support many expenses and allow the students and teachers to attend special events that are culturally enriching. In 2016, a group trip was organized by SIG employees for students and teachers to see STOMP on Broadway.
Tickets for the Gala are $20 in advance and $30 at the door and include food, live entertainment, beverages, silent auction and door prizes. Tickets can be purchased online at www.gofundme.com/cusa-tools-for-the-arts. The Philadelphia Union will sponsor an Adidas Smart Soccer Ball kicking competition and SIG will award prizes to the top kickers.
Sponsors include The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Crozer Keystone Health System, POWER Home Remodeling, The Buccini/Pollin Group, Deloitte, BDP International, FirstPro, SHINY, Wright Foods, Leahy-IFP, Steuben Foods and Valla & Associates, Inc.
