The annual League of Women Voters Jeanette Ross Lecture focuses on environmental issues. This year we are happy to announce that our presenter is Dr. Chad Tolman whose presentation will be “Climate Crisis and Sea Level Rise”. Chad received a BS in chemistry at MIT and a PhD in physical chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. He came to Delaware in 1965 to work for DuPont Central Research –mostly on nylon intermediates. After retiring from DuPont, he taught a course on environmental chemistry at the University of Delaware and worked as a Program Officer in Washington for the National Science Foundation (Chemistry Division) and the National Research Council (Division of Earth and Life Sciences).
Chad has followed energy and climate change for over 20 years and writes a monthly electronic blog, Climate Change News(http://tolmanccnews.blogspot.com) to keep his readers up to date on energy and climate science, policy and public opinion. He has given many talks on energy, climate change and sea level rise to various groups. He is a member of the League of Women Voters of Delaware, which he represents on the Delaware Sea Level Rise Advisory Committee, and also serves on the Climate Change Task Force of the LWVUS. He also volunteers for the Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Delaware Nature Society and the New Castle County Congregations of Delaware Interfaith Power and Light. Chad has three children and six grandchildren, and has chosen to address energy and climate change as his life’s mission.
This event is free and open to the public. Please invite friends. Light refreshments will be served.
