The Farm to City Dinner, a first of its kind event in downtown York, will celebrate all things local. Imagine dining at a large banquet table, right down the middle of N. Beaver St. between W. Market and W. Philadelphia Sts. (right outside historic Central Market), enjoying a delicious meal, served family style. Farm to City, a community building dinner, will also include live entertainment, a silent auction, and a few special surprises!
Tentative menu* for the Farm to City Dinner:
Stuffed mushrooms with sausage, apple, goat cheese
Pickled deviled eggs with snipped chives/deviled eggs with Old Bay and lump crab
Hummus with chive oil, cracked red pepper, toasted pine nuts/carrot and celery
Autumn caponata/grilled bread
Olive oil, cracked red pepper, herbs, parmigiano-reggiano/grilled bread
Slow roasted pork with celery leaf and parsley salad/tomato-apple chutney
Roasted cauliflower “steaks” with parsley butter
Kale salad with currants, parmigiano-reggiano, toasted walnuts, white balsamic vinaigrette
Roasted carrots and greens Rutabaga mash with crispy shallots, herbs
Chocolate bread pudding
Vanilla ice cream sandwiches with HWC’s signature dried fruit and oatmeal cookies
*Since we always serve what’s available fresh and local, farmers dictate our menu!
The Farm to City Dinner benefits three organizations: Horn Farm Center, Buy Fresh Buy Local York, and Healthy World Cafe. Volunteers from all three organizations are helping to prepare food, serve food, and logistics.
