May 5th is International Permaculture Day. TTM is celebrating with a family-friendly, fun-packed event at the Media Community Center from noon-3 pm.
The day’s activities include a Potluck Lunch, fun, hands-on children’s activities, a talk about Permaculture and its benefits by local landscaper, Paco Verin, and 2 short films that will be sure to delight the kids. We’ll also be hosting two swap tables – one for gardening supplies, tools, and plants or seeds, and one for kids’ toys & books. Weather permitting, we will include some outdoor activities in the Tot Lot area.
The two films being featured are the work of local film-maker, Rich Hoffmann. The first is a ‘sneak preview’ of Watermelon Magic, the story of a young girl on a farm who discovers the joy of growing and sharing everyone’s favorite summer fruit. The film will have its real premiere later in the year. The second film is Fridays at the Farm, about his family’s adventures at a local, organic farm, learning how their food grows.
This event is a fundraiser with a suggested donation of $10/person (kids under 9 free). Proceeds will be split between Rich Hoffmann and TTM. Please bring a healthy dish to share and a gardening trowel if you can.
