Providence Meeting’s Peace and Social Action Committee will host an Inspired Pasta and Creative Conversation event with area Muslim scholars on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Lunch starts at 12:15 pm, speakers at 1 pm.
You are invited to join with others from nearby faith communities as we seek to increase understanding, build respect, and encourage a safe, peaceful community for all. The speakers will be:
- Dr. Haci Tanis, a professor of Religious Studies at Temple and DCCC. He also works as an Imam for the Bosnian Muslim community in Harrisburg, and is a chaplain in the PA state correctional institutions and at Hershey Medical Center.
- Ms. Supna Zaida Peery, having an expertise in the roots of extremism, immigration, and international development has written widely on issues of human rights, foreign policy, and religion over the past decade. She has represented victims of FGM at asylum interviews, detainees at deportation hearings, and recently at a Department of Homeland Security hearing for assessing terrorism arising in southeast Asia.
The event is free, though a donation to help defray costs is appreciated.
