Data analysis and mapping can be useful tools for learning about and describing power structures, following money trails, analyzing trends, and developing strategies for challenging systems of oppression, exploitation, and authoritarianism.
Join us for a workshop covering some basic tools and tips for creating maps and data visualizations.
We will be covering:
– Data mapping
– Using basic formulas, pivot tables, and charts in Google Sheets
– Data visualization tips and best practices
– Demo of Tableau Public
For demonstration purposes, we will be working with datasets from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant program and the City of Philadelphia’s Operating Budget. We’ll learn about how public funds are being spent while learning about and practicing these tools!
Please bring a laptop if you are able.
