On Saturday, May 23rd, consumers, farmers, parents, children, and people from around the region will join in Philadelphia’s third annual March Against Monsanto. The marchers will simultaneously oppose the vision being advanced by biotechnology corporations like Monsanto, and support a sustainable food future, specifically calling for labeling of genetically engineered foods (‘GMOs’). The show of force comes as advocates gear up to reintroduce state legislation in Harrisburg to require the labeling of GMO foods. Last year’s legislation was supported by over 70 members of the legislature, and marchers hoped to use the rally to garner even more support on the bill in the new legislative session.
