Preservation Alliance Tours presents a walking tour of Media, Delaware County.
Media was planned in the 1850s as the seat of Delaware County. Walk along State Street, Media’s “main street”, lined with elegant examples of 19th and early 20th century architectural styles. As retail shifted from main street to the malls at the end of the 20th century Media’s appliance stores, dress shops, stationary and hardware stores, pharmacies and groceries were replaced by an array of boutique shops and restaurants to please every palate all the while retaining it’s architectural heritage–and it’s trolley. Stick around after the tour to experience what Media has offer today.
Proceeds from the tour benefit The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia. The mission of the Preservation Alliance is to actively promote the appreciation, protection, and appropriate use and development of the Philadelphia region’s historic buildings, communities and landscapes.
