The Media Hometown Cycling Classic is nine races for USA Cycling licensed pros and amateurs that will run throughout the day on Saturday, June 30, 2018. The first race starts at 8:30 am, and the last race ends at 5:15 pm. There are also two fun short sprint races for kids ages 5-6 and 7-8 that will happen at 2:30 pm.
Each pro-am race starts at 3rd and Jackson, turns left on Front, then left on Monroe, then left at 6th, then left at Jackson — and continues for between 20 and 40 laps. {The Media Library patio will be a prime location for watching}. If your residence or business is on these streets or any of the cross streets between Front and 6th (see course map below), you will be affected by road closures and parking restrictions on June 30 between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm.
- There will be no parking on the race course (Jackson between 6th and Front, Front between Jackson and Monroe, Monroe between Front and 6th, and 6th between Monroe and Jackson) from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm on Saturday, June 30, 2018. As a safety measure to protect the racers, vehicles left on the race course streets after 6:30 am will be towed.
- Although there will be short breaks between the races, you should not plan on being able to drive a vehicle across or onto the race course. We recommend that you park your vehicle on one of the cross streets on either side of the race course and plan to walk to it. If you must cross the race course that day as a pedestrian to walk to your vehicle, please wait until a volunteer marshal (we’ll have them at every intersection) tells you it’s safe to do so.
- If you park in a lot or garage with driveway access to the race course, you should move your vehicle to one of the cross streets off the course. On race day, you will not be able to drive your vehicle onto or across the course.
- If you’re an early riser, plan to move your vehicle by 6:30 am. Otherwise, please move your vehicle on Friday night.
- You have ringside seats to a fun, high energy, family-friendly event. Neighboring communities (West Chester, Ardmore, Doylestown) hold similar all-day races. This is a first for Media and for Delaware County. We hope you enjoy the day.
