The Media Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), Transition Town Media, Media Providence Friends School, Friends of Glen Providence Park, Media Arts Council, the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia, and other great partners have teamed up to bring residents of Media and our neighboring towns the 2nd Annual Media Open Streets—a fun, family-friendly event that’s sure to get you out in the streets, moving in any way you prefer!
On Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 10am to 3pm, we’ll close down Jackson St. from 5th St to 3rd, 3rd St from Jackson to West St, down West to State St, and down State to Glen Providence Park. You and your friends and family can come out and play in the streets! Anything non-motorized is allowed—bicycles, strollers, wheelchairs, skateboards, roller skates, or just your own two feet! Of course, there will be food, vendor and information tables, fun activities, and music along the way, around Borough Hall (3rd & Jackson Sts), and at Glen Providence Park. We’ll supply a list of what’s happening where.
Come and experience the fun of strolling or biking the streets of Media without cars—it’s healthy fun for the whole family! Check out this video to see what it might look like. And check out our Facebook page for the latest updates!
This is a great opportunity for your company too—be a sponsor of the 2nd Annual Media Open Streets! There’s a level of sponsorship for everyone. Please follow this link to select the one for you!
Rain date, Sunday, Sept 29th.
Fun for everyone other than the people who live on these closed streets. For those folks, tough luck. No body bothers to ask the residents that are affected. I find the whole process rude and inconvenient.
Ralph, I’m very sorry for the inconvenience this event might cause you. We certainly didn’t mean to be rude. We very much appreciate the generosity of the people living on these streets to have this festival on their doorsteps. All the people we have spoken to on the route have been very gracious about the event and thought it was a good idea. I’m sorry that you don’t enjoy it. If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve things for you, please let us know. The route was worked out with the police department for safety considerations.
