The 9th Annual Mother Earth Harvest Moon Fair will be held at Spoutwood Farm in Glen Rock, PA on Sunday September 22nd, 2013 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, rain or shine. A celebration of Spoutwood Farm’s commitment to healthy living on healthy land, this revival of American’s country fair traditions offers up good, old fashion family fun. It is a celebration of the harvest season’s bounty and nature at its finest.
Why Harvest Moon Fair? “The shorter-than-usual time between moonrises around the full Harvest Moon means no long period of darkness between sunset and moonrise for days in succession. In the days before tractor lights, the lamp of the Harvest Moon helped farmers to gather their crops, despite the diminishing daylight hours. As the sun’s light faded in the west, the moon would soon rise in the east to illuminate the fields throughout the night.” (Deborah Byrd in Tonight| Astronomy Essentials|Space Sep 18, 2013)
