JOIN PROVIDENCE FRIENDS MEETING TO VIEW “The Future of Race in America,” a TED TALK given by MICHELLE ALEXANDER, who wrote “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” and led a provocative workshop at Pendle Hill last year. She is an engaged lawyer, civil rights advocate, writer and Associate Professor of Law at the University of Ohio. Among many distinguished assignments, she has served as a law clerk for Justice Harry Blackmum of the U. S. Supreme Court. She directed the Racial Justice Project of the ACLU of Northern California and has litigated numerous class action discrimination cases.
In this TED TALK, her passion shows through, she dispells some generally-held myths, and jolts the viewer to re-think the dimensions of our societal racism. We will all have time to share our reactions and insights after the video.
FREE, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE
