Join us for a rally outside SEPTA’s headquarters. SEPTA officials, Mayor Kenney, and members of City Council need to see & hear that it’s time for our transit agency to switch from fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy!
At 9:30am, SEPTA officials will hold an invitation-only “stakeholder” meeting to gather input for their forthcoming Energy Action Plan. A few leaders from 350 Philly and other groups dedicated to environmental and social justice have been invited to participate.
We need people from across the Philly area to gather outside the building just before the “stakeholder” meeting to send a strong message to SEPTA: Cancel the Nicetown gas plant, and plan a rapid shift to 100% renewable energy and electric buses!
Public transportation is critical for a just and sustainable society, and SEPTA plays a crucial role in our city and region. In order to protect public health and a livable climate, we need SEPTA to join other transit agencies across the world in planning a rapid shift to 100% renewable energy. That means cancelling plans to build a polluting gas-fired power plant in Nicetown. And we need SEPTA to move quickly to replace polluting diesel buses with zero-emission electric buses.
350 Philly and allies will bring this demand to SEPTA officials inside the meeting at 9:30am. We’ll send a strong message to SEPTA through a rally outside the building just before that. Please come add your voice! We’ll have plenty of signs, but please feel free to bring your own!
