#BagItChester, a project of New Integration Accommodations and The Chester Housing Authority is conducting a city-wide door-to-door distribution of reusable shopping bags. Participants will work within teams of diverse volunteers to deliver a message of optimal health to neighborhoods through Chester City, home to the Crozer Theological Seminary where Reverend Dr. Martin Luther Kin studied between 1948 and 1951.
Upon registering, volunteers will be assigned to one of our volunteer distribution gathering points. Start time is 8:30AM. Each volunteer will be given a set of bags for door-to-door distribution. Volunteers are encouraged to offer bags to citizens they see on their journey. This campaign is part of an effort to eliminate single-use plastic bags in Chester. One of Dr. King’s challenges to us is to confront materialism. Plastic bags are dangerous materials in our environment.
Upon completion of the team exercise, volunteers will gather at MJ Freed Theater (515 Avenue of the States, Chester) for a project debrief and refreshments. A theatrical King Reading presentation is planned for 12PM at the theater.
