Beginning Beekeeping Workshop @ 11 East Jefferson St, Media, PA
Taught by Patrick Sullivan. Beekeeper. Orchardist. Gardener. Educator (www.nectaree.jimdo.com, www.honeybeenarrative.wordpress.com)
The honeybees are telling us something. Colony collapse disorder, varroa mites, and massive bee deaths across the country are beckoning us to wake up. Want to bee part of a solution? As a small beekeeper you will be linked to a world wide web of beekeepers and gardeners working towards true sustainability. Come learn how to serve honeybees during the greatest challenge humanity has ever faced.
This fun workshop will be dynamic, and interactive, with a live beehive. It will involve practical observation and hands on learning of the hive together with reflection and a call to consciousness. It is suitable for teenagers to adults. As a precautionary measure, if you have severe allergies to bee stings you will need to come with your own medication. Media native Patrick Sullivan, founder of Nectaree, a beekeeper, gardener, orchardist, educator, and world traveler, together with Melisa Oliva, expressive arts therapist, will present skills and stories pointing in a direction of health and justice for all beings, including the honeybee!
