Pendle Hill will be showing the film, “We the People 2.0 – The Second American Revolution,” a documentary about the work of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF) in supporting the movement to reassert community control over the air we breathe and the water we drink in the face of state and federal laws that give corporations superior “rights” over communities, nature, and the people.
“We the People 2.0” shares stories from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Oregon, where communities are organizing against fracking, sludging of farmland, and other harmful corporate practices. They are uniting to save the people and places they love – and are running into legal barriers put in place by their own government and corporate lobbyists.
Ecosystems and species around the globe are collapsing under these barriers of inherently unsustainable laws and governing structures.
To overcome them, a Second American Revolution is building. A Revolution to elevate the rights of people, communities, and nature above corporate “rights” and the preemptive authority of state and federal government. A Revolution to help America manifest a true democracy, where “we the people” are the key decision-makers for our own communities.
Chad Nicholson will be joining us for this event. Chad is the statewide Pennsylvania Organizer for the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF). The work keeps him on the road constantly, working with communities facing industrial threats in all corners of the Keystone State.
“We the People 2.0” is sponsored by CELDF. Click here to watch the trailer.
