The light returns, days are getting longer, and despite winter weather, a lot is going on in the fields and forest. Join certified arborist Mike Rolli for our Winter Discovery Walk in Glen Providence Park to see how our local flora and fauna are preparing for spring. Those who attended Mike’s previous walks know the remarkable depth and breadth of his knowledge and the fascinating details he shares. Mike has worked on an extensive botanical survey of the species found in the glen.
Come out of hibernation as we begin our ninth consecutive year of events in Glen Providence Park. We may even uncover hidden dwellings of some of our more secretive woodland denizens!
- Meet at the main entrance at 550 W. State St., Media
- Rain, snow, or shine**
- Estimated distance: 1-1.5 miles
- Estimated time: 2 hours
- Be prepared for stream crossings, steep hills, and uneven (possibly icy or muddy) terrain: wear sturdy walking shoes, bring a hiking pole if you use one, and you never know when you’ll want binoculars!
- **Event is rain or shine, but if the weather is terrible – or in the event of high winds – we’ll post on our website and facebook by 12:30pm on Sunday whether we will need to cancel.
