Presented by: James Crater He will bring his wide life experience to the forum with an open discussion on “full-circle thinking, and connecting the dots”. As the symbol for recycling is flawed, so have many efforts been that are aimed at reducing waste & recycling.
Zero-waste living will be discussed, along with various renewable energy & community-based crafting of new products from old.
“My belief is that by empowering others with skills, all of our toolboxes grow and our community is more complete. My proudest comment came from a first grader named Chris, who drew me a picture after my presentation; it said ‘ When I grow up, I want to be a scientist of recycled stuff’.
Bio: Jim founded and operates Recycling Services, Inc., now in its 44th year of operation as the oldest community recycling program in PA, as well as the most complete residential recycling program anywhere. Jim has done consulting work for a number of engineering companies on recycling, waste reduction and renewable energy applications. He also teaches classes on electric vehicle conversion, creates found metal sculptures, rebuilds used solar equipment, welds with his mobile solar-electric and pedal-power equipment (used to power over 40 music events), writes, and has been a silversmith, goldsmith and many other things.
