Join Transition Town Media and the Artist Warehouse of Chester for a workshop focusing on authentic, transparent conversations that promote strategic collaboration. Fred Brown, with his colleague Tina Clarke, will share their knowledge and experience from years of work with nonprofits and community leadership in environmental and social justice. They will lead us in examining race, privilege, and socioeconomic challenges with a view toward moving together toward sustainability. Tina will offer a global perspective with her experiences in the international sustainability movement, from green cities to cooperative economic systems. Fred will highlight ways to build on community strengths and assets, supporting people to individually and collaboratively develop their own leadership capacities – moving beyond the hierarchical models that simply use people to ‘get things done’. He will also explore how to cultivate participation of younger generations in a way that would inform and infuse the ‘culture’ or ‘being’ of an organization.
This evening event will be a powerful lead-in to the weekend’s Transition Launch workshop, Sat and Sun, May 20-21.
Doors open at 5:30pm for mingling and light refreshments. The program begins at 6pm.
This event is free and open to all. Donations, if you are able, are appreciated: suggested donation $10-$50. Parking is available on the street, in a small lot across the street from the Theater, or in the City Hall parking lot at the end of the block.
