Acceptable Donation for the FreeStore

We ask that items be clean and in working order, with all parts present.

This list does not include everything, so please ask a volunteer if you have any questions.

  • Books – hardcover, paperback, fiction, non-fiction, audio and current-year magazines
  • Music – records or CDs, cannot be home-made/recorded
  • Movies – DVDs only, cannot be home-made/recorded
  • Home Decor – Artwork, knick-knacks, candles, picture frames, etc.
  • Tools and toolboxes
  • Jewelry
  • Craft items
  • Office and school supplies
  • Purses and wallets
  • Small appliances – coffee makers, vacuums, microwaves, blenders, etc.
  • Electronic equipment (no older tube-style TVs, monitors, or outdated electronics)
  • Kitchen items
  • Toys – in good condition with all the pieces
  • Stuffed animals – clean and in good condition
  • Games – complete with all the pieces
  • Baby items – tubs, slings, strollers and pumps
  • Sports equipment
  • Lamps and lampshades
  • Throw rugs, curtains, tablecloths
  • Beauty care – lotions, beauty items/new makeup
  • Pet items – leashes, food dishes and small cages

Please do not leave anything outside the door when we are closed.

Seasonal Donations

Please limit donations of seasonal items to the following seasonal décor guide:

Valentine’s Day – January/February
St Patrick’s Day – February/March
Easter – March/April
Mother’s Day – April/May
Memorial Day – April/May
Father’s Day – May/June
Independence Day (4th of July) – June/July
Labor Day – August/September
Halloween – September/October
Thanksgiving – October/November
Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa – November/December

Things we do not accept

The FreeStore reserves the right to reject items due to space limitations or any other reason that a volunteer deems reasonable. This list does not include everything so please ask a volunteer if you have any questions.

  • Dirty, dusty, moldy, or water-damaged items
  • Larger than one person can reasonably carry
  • Mattresses
  • Box springs
  • Large furniture
  • Pets
  • Encyclopedias
  • Textbooks
  • VHS tapes
  • Old-style tube TV’s or monitors
  • Outdated printers
  • Sinks
  • Toilets
  • Large appliances
  • Smoke alarms
  • Tires
  • Chemicals or cleaners
  • Paint solvents
  • Hazardous waste of any kind
  • Clothing or food – Food and clothing can be given to the food/clothing pantry located at the back of the First Church Media building
