Author Talk: Tim Flannery

The Academy is pleased to welcome back scientist, author, and climate-change activist Professor Tim Flannery. Flannery will be discussing his new book, Atmosphere of Hope: Searching for Solutions to the Climate Crisis. Following on his 2005 best-seller The Weather Makers, Flannery’s latest work focuses on both the urgent reality of climate change and the concrete steps that might be made to address the looming crisis.

Flannery received the Academy’s Joseph Leidy Award in 2010 and in 2007 was named Australian of the Year. From 2011 to 2013, he was head of the Australian Climate Change Commission. He has published more than 130 scientific papers and several books. An opinion piece about his latest ideas was published this summer in The New York Times.
