Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church presents a Community Forum Distinguished Speaker Series: Our Environment 2013
Pieter Tans, PhD, an internationally-recognized environmental scientist, will discuss global warming and humankind’s influence on climate.
Tans is a member of the Earth System Research Laboratory in Boulder, CO, and his group maintains the world’s largest global monitoring network of atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. He was a recipient of the Roger Revelle medal in 2010 for his work in expanding our understanding of the global carbon cycle and raising awareness for climate change.
Speaking of his own work, Tans says, “As climate scientists, it is our civic responsibility to convey to the public the urgency and the essence of the climate change problem. The kind of world we leave to our children and grandchildren depends on it.”
