This Tuesday at 7:30pm, our guest speaker for the Sierra Volunteer Mini-Program will be Justin Wilson Director of Policy and New Markets at Clean Energy Collective and will talk about: Community Solar.
Up to 75% of electric customers in the US have no access to solar electricity. Community Solar is a solar PV installation that provides energy, financial benefits, or both to several members or “subscribers” through a voluntary program. Community Solar isn’t built on your own roof, but rather in your community.
Local solar facilities are shared by individual community members, who receive credits on their electricity bills for their portion of the power produced. Community solar projects provide American homeowners, renters and businesses access to the benefits of local solar energy generation unconstrained by the physical attributes of their home or business, like roof space, shading, or whether or not they own their residence or building. These programs can also expand access to solar energy to low-income households.
Presenter – Justin Wilson – Director of Policy and New Markets at Clean Energy Collective (CEC)
At CEC, Justin leads efforts to expand community solar policies and programs in new and nascent markets. Previously, Justin worked with non-profits across the US to encourage adoption of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
