SOLAR ENERGY – WHAT’S IN STORE FOR STORAGE by Bill Hennessey, Vice President Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Association
Though the fuel is always free, when the sun doesn’t shine, solar power needs help. Storing energy produced by the sun for later use is the key to successful replacement of non-sustaining energy systems. The Tesla Powerwall, based on the Tesla electric car, is one of several new battery systems that are being marketed. But technology developments are struggling to catch up with marketing promises.
Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Association Vice President Bill Hennessy will offer an overview of what’s in store for storage in the next year. Focusing on residential PV systems with battery storage, he’ll take a look at the Tesla battery pack and some other technologies, what they cost and how they fit in a sustainable future.
Bill Hennessy of Mertztown, PA, has been involved with solar energy since the early 80s. For the past 10 years, he has operated Berks Solar, a small-scale solar electric contracting company.
