Join us on Sunday, June 19th, 2-5PM for a Summer Solstice Picnic at Glen Providence Park in the stage and picnic table area. Enter at the 500 W State St entrance – we’ll be at the bottom of the hill.
Do you have a Sun-related poem, song, prayer, dance, … to share? All ages are welcome to participate! Let us know what you’d like to do.
Holistic practitioners, artists and civic groups are welcome to set up a blanket around our designated area to meet with people and share missions, inspire us, demonstrate healing, lead small activities and build community. No selling – just good old community connecting!
We’ll also have an optional drum circle. Bring your drums and percussion instruments! All are welcome to participate and there’s plenty of space to enjoy the picnic while others drum.
No matter what they believed, people have come together at the solstice throughout history to celebrate how the sun provides us with the joy of watching flowers bloom, with food and warmth, and with the ability to gather together in the green, green grass of summer.
Come picnic with the community! BYOE: Bring Your Own Everything – food and drink, blankets and chairs, games, music-making devices, anything festive!
